Writing for Children - a free workshop for children
This workshop is aimed at aspiring writers who want to write for children and learn more about getting published. Sufiya Ahmed, author of the Khadija series will also be our guest author,and will speak about being published.

Sufiya Ahmad is the author of the Zahra series which features 'Zahra's First Term at the Khadija Academy', 'Zahra's Great Debate' and her new book 'Zahra's Trip to Misr. In 2009 Bloomsbury Publishers included both Zahra titles as e-books on their online UK library service.
In 2011 Sufiya's new teenage book was signed by Puffin Publishers and has been scheduled for release in 2012. She is delighted that she will be a Puffin author.
Andrea Reece began her career in the children’s marketing department of Transworld over 20 years ago, going on to work at Egmont, HarperCollins Children’s Books and Hodder Children’s Books, where she was Marketing Director and Deputy Managing Director.
In 2005 she launched children’s publisher Catnip. Catnip rapidly built up an excellent reputation and was short-listed for Children’s Independent Publisher of the Year in 2006. Reece stood down as Catnip Publishing Director at the end of 2009 and now, with Martin West, runs Redewell, offering training to those wanting to write for children. Authors she has worked with include David Almond, Nick Butterworth, Berlie Doherty, Joan Lingard and Graham Marks.
She is currently working for Books for Keeps the children’s review journal, and as marketing consultant for children’s publishers.
