Alveena Malik

Alveena Malik is Principle Associate at the Institute of Community Cohesion with lead responsibility on Education and Cohesion policy. She has responsibility for providing strategic direction on the role education can play in bridging cultures and promoting community cohesion working closely with key national bodies such as DCSF and Ofsted.
 
Alveena has over ten years of experience in equalities and cohesion policy having formerly worked at the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) as Head of Communities and Integration policy. After the birth of her second daughter, Alveena became a freelance adviser on equalities and human rights issues and has undertaken a number of short term projects. She was appointed Special Advisor to the Communities and Local Government (CLG) Select Committee on Migration and PREVENT and was temporary Policy Adviser to Trevor Philips, Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for six months. 
 
Alveena has written numerous policy reports, guidance and toolkits for government, the third sector and community groups. Alveena also provides key strategic advice to several UK Muslim organisations. She is currently appointed as adviser to the Young Foundation on the Maslaha Project (Muslim web based organisation) providing strategic advice on business planning, fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
