The Muslim Writers Awards aim to showcase and celebrate good journalism and the writers behind it. Journalist need not submit work solely focused on topics surrounding Islam or the Muslim community – although this is equally welcome. All entrants must be Muslim and work should be submitted in the English Language. Articles should have been published for the first time in English between February 2009 to November 2010.

Rules and Conditions of Entry

Eligibility

  1. Articles must have been first published between the calendar year 2009 to November 2010.
  2. Entries can include articles published online and print.
  3. Entries will not be eligible in a category where the author is a member of the category judging panel.
  4. Submissions will be eligible where the author is a member of a separate judging panel.

Entry

  1. Journalist may enter their work as PDF versions of their published article and or as working links to articles online or on blogs.
  2. Journalists may enter either one article or a collection of up to three articles.

Shortlists and Winners

  1. It is a condition of entry that authors of all shortlisted and winning entries must cooperate with the Muslim Writers Awards in publicity and promotion surrounding the Muslim Writers Awards.

Awards Ceremony

  1. Winners must make every effort to attend the Awards ceremony. The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding, and Muslim Writers Awards will not enter into correspondence or negotiation about the results.
