Rules and Conditions of Entry

Guidelines on Categories

1. Published Fiction may include- but is not restricted to- popular fiction, novels, literary fiction, short stories, graphic novels, crime and thrillers.
2. Published Non Fiction may include biographies, memoirs, social and political commentary.
3. Islamic Non Fiction can include Seerah, Biographies, History, Quran and Hadith studies, moral and spiritual development and science in Islam.

Eligibility

1. Books must have been first published between the calendar year January 2009 to July 2010.
2. Books will not be eligible in a category where the author is a member of the category judging panel. Books will be eligible where the author is a member of a separate judging panel.
3. Books published solely online are not eligible for entry.

Entry

1. Five copies of each book, accompanied by a completed Entry Form available to download online, must be sent by 19th November 2010 to Muslim Writers Awards, E1 Business Centre, 7 Whitechapel Road, London, E1 1DU.
2. Entries must be a in a book form. Books published between January 2010 and November 2010 may be submitted in proof form if necessary after obtaining permission from Muslim Writers Awards.
3. Entries can only be accepted from publishers and will not be accepted direct from authors. The submission of an authors work by the publisher will be taken as agreement by the author that he/she is willing for the submitted work to be considered.

Shortlists and Winners

1. It is a condition of entry that the publishers and authors of all shortlisted and winning books must cooperate with the Muslim Writers Awards in publicity and promotion surrounding the Muslim Writers Awards.
2. Four additional copies of each shortlisted book must be supplied by each publisher for publicity purposes. All books supplied are non-returnable.

Awards Ceremony

1. Winners must make every effort to attend the Awards ceremony.
2. The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding, and Muslim Writers Awards will not enter into correspondence or negotiation about the results.
