Unpublished categories include;
Short story (no longer than 5,000 words)
Children's story (suitable for any of the following ages 7+, 9+, 11+ or Teenagers)
Novel
Poetry this can be a single piece of poetry or a collection or up to three poems with no single poem longer than 40 lines.
Screen play includes Short Films (10-20 pages), Feature Length scripts (over 60 pages) and TV episodes (30 pages).
How do I submit my work?
You need to submit your work using the online form below, please note you do need to register on the website to be able to do this. You only need to send a printed version of your entry if you are entering for the unpublished novel or short story category after you have submitted it electronically.
You must read the conditions of entry before submitting your work to ensure your submission does qualify for entry.
The adult unpublished and published awards ceremony will be held in 2011. Deadline for entries has been extended to is Friday 17th December 2010. Submissions will not be accepted after this date.
Please note:
- Material which is felt offensive or unacceptable will be removed at the discretion of the judges and MWA committee.
- Writing which contains vulgar, explicit, pornographic, violent and obscene content is not tolerated.
- Material which is gratuitously blasphemous will be removed.
- Material whose aim is to revile others, engage in hate speech and/or advocate violence or cruelty will not be accepted.
- Material deliberately provoking or insulting other groups (either individually or collectively) will not be accepted.

Submissions should be posted to Muslim Writers Awards 148 Gregory Boulevard Nottingham NG7 5JE.
Conditions of entry
- All submissions must be in English
- All entrants must be residing in the UK
- All entrants must be original and the authors own unaided work.
- All submission should be typed, in a Word document format, double spaced on one side of white A4 paper and in size 12 Times New Roman font or Arial with numbered pages.
- Entrants should not have had a full length book published.
- Entrants cannot submit more than one submission per category.
- All submissions must be entered through our website or via email to submissions@muslimwritersawards.org.uk with a completed entry form.
- The name of the author must not appear anywhere on the typescript.
- Once received, entries cannot be subsequently amended.
- Submissions will not be accepted after 5pm on 17th December 2010.
- The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding, and Muslim Writers Awards will not enter into correspondence or negotiation about the results.
- Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which is scheduled to be held in 2011.
- Details of winners will be made available on the Muslim Writers Awards website after the Awards ceremony.
- Each winner will agree to take part in publicity for the promotion of the Awards which will include - but is not restricted to- his/her name and photograph being used. Writers will not receive payment for this.
- Winning entries may be published in the Muslim Writers Awards Anthology. Winners will retain the copyright to their work but grant Muslim Writers Awards the right to publish their work in the anthology and excerpts on the Muslim Writers Awards website.
- Submissions must not infringe any copyright or contain defamatory or otherwise unlawful matter.
- The submission of an entry will be deemed to imply the unqualified acceptance of these conditions of entry.
